What does the research say?
Laboratory & animal research
Lab and animal results show what might be worth studying in people. They don't show that the herb has these effects in humans.
Araçá-boi is one of several Amazon fruits rich in nutrients and plant compounds. In lab and animal studies, these fruits showed antioxidant activity and slowed cancer cells, but this hasn't been tested in people.[1]Study
The seeds, usually thrown away, make up most of the fruit's dry weight. In lab tests, a seed extract blocked two enzymes that break down starch into sugar and showed antioxidant activity. It didn't harm blood cells.[2]Study
